I am still sending my sightings to the Big Butterfly Count every day. It is only taking me 15 minutes and it really is going to help in the ongoing study of the state of Britain’s butterflies.
Until today I have seen lots of butterflies (mainly Meadow Browns!) on my count, but today I saw only a single Peacock in spite of the weather being hot and sunny. I still submitted the sighting, because submitting lack of sightings of butterflies is just as important information as the ones that contain 50+ butterflies.
I think many people are put off when they only see one or two butterflies and don’t send the sightings in because they think they are not going to be interested, but don’t forget: knowing where there is a lack of butterflies is important too!
Good luck and happy counting, and don’t forget to contact me if you have any comments or queries about any of my content 🙂
